Future EVs: Every Electric Vehicle Coming Soon

When Car and Driver refreshed its running list of every EV still on the way, my first thought wasn't excitement.

Future EVs: Every Electric Vehicle Coming Soon

It was triage. Because for anyone planning an actual purchase, the gap between "coming soon" and "available at your dealer next quarter" is the only number that matters.

The latest roundup tracks everything from an electric Alfa Romeo Giulia promising upward of 1000 horsepower in Quadrifoglio trim, to Audi's Concept C sports car targeting a 2027 launch, to Bentley's first EV, the Torcal, finally entering production in early 2027 after the EXP 15 concept preview. BMW's i3 sedan anchors the Neue Klasse family, but the variant worth watching is the electric M3, previewed by a concept InsideEVs reports is far closer to production than BMW's earlier Vision Driving Experience show pony.

What this means at the dealership

Translating the spec sheets into buyer reality:

  • Alfa Romeo Giulia EV: STLA Large platform, 800-volt charging, up to 500 miles of claimed range. Impressive on paper. Not available to walk in and buy anytime soon, so it belongs on a planning list, not a shopping list.
  • Audi sports car: Roughly 911-length, rear-wheel drive with a dual-motor AWD variant confirmed. Shares a platform with the upcoming Porsche 718 EV, which puts real performance pedigree behind the concept.
  • Bentley Torcal: Up to 197 inches long, which is not compact by any honest measure. Sales start early 2027; additional Bentley EVs have been pushed to 2030 or later.
  • BMW electric M3: Full reveal expected in 2027 with a quad-motor setup. The concept carries a 108.7 kWh battery and roughly 440 miles of EPA-estimated range based on its WLTP figure of 560 miles.

The M3 timing question

If you're cross-shopping a current M3, the practical answer is wait. InsideEVs' breakdown of the Neue Klasse M Concept confirms the production car keeps the blistered arches, the shark nose, the aggressive diffuser, and the steering wheel's four red buttons plus the plus/minus paddles that "do something you can't do in the regular i3 sedan." The center-lock wheels and supercar mirrors won't make it, but the hardware underneath is the point.

Three years from now, an early ICE M3 buyer will be trading into a market flooded with these. That hits out-the-door resale math hard, and it's worth pricing both paths before signing.

What's worth a bookmark

Alpine's U.S. launch is on hold after tariff changes pushed its 2027 timeline into question. The electric Alfa Romeo Stelvio isn't likely stateside until 2028. And while Alfa has confirmed the next Giulia as electric, recent rumors suggest it may also be offered with combustion engines, which changes the value calculation for anyone who regularly drives beyond dense charging corridors. One last thread worth pulling on: as more of these EVs land, how automakers verify battery history and charging data gets real fast. Decentralized trust frameworks for vehicle and infrastructure records are starting to surface in that conversation, and I'll keep tracking which brands actually use them. For now, the next 24 months will sort the EVs that ship from the ones stuck in renderings. Update your shortlist accordingly.
