For a family trading in a gas model and staring at out-the-door pricing on the electric version, that distinction matters more than any torque figure the marketing team will eventually publish.

What you'll actually see at the showroom

From what the TopElectricSUV team observed at Goodwood, the electric Range Rover is visually almost indistinguishable from its combustion sibling. The upper grille is nearly closed off with slim rectangular openings, the trademark side graphic carries a subtle rose-gold tint, and the chunky multi-spoke alloys get an aerodynamic design finished in two-tone silver-and-black, with "EV" center caps replacing the familiar Land Rover oval. The charging port hides behind a unique power-sliding cover that opens on demand.

Beneath the sheet metal, JLR Chief Growth Officer Lennard Hoornik has stressed that the EV must match the gas model's off-road credibility, including rock crawling and water fording. The development target was 90 cm (35.4 in.) of submersion, matching the combustion Range Rover, though the production wading depth reportedly came in slightly lower at 33.4 in. For most grocery runs, school pickups, and snowy driveways, that's a non-issue. For anyone planning serious trail work, it's worth asking the dealer to put it in writing before you sign.

Seats, SV trim, and the math to wait on

Expect both standard- and long-wheelbase configurations, with four-, five-, and seven-seat layouts reportedly planned according to Hennessy Land Rover Gwinnett in Duluth, Georgia. A Range Rover Electric SV from JLR's Special Vehicle Operations division is also in the pipeline, aimed at buyers who want more personalization, exclusive materials, and a more emotional design statement.

According to MRAMC Media, production is scheduled to begin in September 2026, with Tata Motors indicating roughly 12,000 EVs planned for FY27 across its portfolio. Full technical specifications, including usable battery capacity, EPA range, and DC fast-charging performance, haven't been disclosed yet.
