Renault Scenic E-Tech 2026: Longer Range and Optimized Charging Curves

Renault has rolled out the most substantive update yet to its family-focused electric crossover, the Scenic E-Tech Electric. According to Electric Cars Report, the 2026 model swaps in a new 89 kWh NMC battery on the range-topping trim, pushing WLTP range to 642 km. The bigger story for daily drivers sits in the charging curve: Renault has cut a typical DC session by roughly nine minutes without raising peak power.

The battery lineup

The numbers will look familiar to anyone shopping a family EV: 642 km (399 miles) WLTP on the 220 hp variant, an 18 km bump over the outgoing 87 kWh pack's 625 km. A 67 kWh LFP option is on the way, targeting 467 km WLTP and positioned as the budget entry point — though Renault has not disclosed out-the-door pricing for it.

The LFP pack uses Renault's cell-to-pack layout with 232 pouch cells at 53% packing efficiency, the same architecture already running in the updated Megane E-Tech Electric. The base 170 Comfort Range keeps its 125 kW motor and 60 kWh battery, unchanged.

What actually matters at the charger

This is the upgrade I would pay attention to. The previous Scenic needed around 37 minutes to go from 15% to 80%, averaging 150 kW. The 2026 model hits 80% from 15% in 28 minutes at the same 150 kW peak. Renault reshaped the curve rather than chasing a bigger headline number, and that is what saves real minutes on a road-trip stop. The LFP variant is expected to do the same 15-to-80% window in 24 minutes when it arrives.

The practical read

At 4.47 metres long and under 1,900 kg, the Scenic still targets households that need real cargo space without stepping up to a three-row footprint. Seven exterior colours are now offered, including new Satin Blue Slate and Exo Galaxy Grey, with gloss-black bumper splitters and redesigned 19- and 20-inch wheels. The 20-inch aero covers on the Iconic trim contain at least 72% recycled material. Inside, Techno gets redesigned front seats and a rear bench in PET fabric with more than 95% recycled yarn.

Before you sign the paperwork, two things worth tracking. Out-the-door pricing on the LFP — that is where the value case either holds or breaks for grocery-run and school-commute buyers. And real-world charging curves once the car ships: a clean 15-to-80% on paper can flatten when cells warm up or ambient temperature drops, so wait for independent charging tests before treating 28 minutes as guaranteed.
