dealers next year — a sizable pipeline running against a tougher backdrop of slower consumer adoption, reduced federal incentives, and ongoing trade friction. For shoppers weighing an EV purchase or lease, the volume alone changes how to shop, not just what is on the lot.

What the 2026 lineup actually delivers

The research flags meaningful spec jumps rather than cosmetic-only refreshes. The 2027 BMW iX3 anchors the premium midsize SUV segment with an 800-volt architecture and an EPA-estimated range of up to 434 miles, while BMW lists a 10–80% DC charge in roughly 21 minutes. Pricing starts at $61,500 for the 50 xDrive, stepping to $64,000 and $65,500 for Sport and M Sport Professional trims — before the $1,350 destination charge that pushes the out-the-door figure higher.

BMW's flagship sedan is also turning over. The 2027 i7 moves to Gen6 cylindrical cells with a 112.5 kWh pack, lifts peak DC charging to 250 kW, and trims six minutes off the 10–80% session — now 28 minutes. A NACS port comes standard, opening access to Tesla's Supercharger network. Range is projected above 350 miles, versus the outgoing model's 285.

Sitting between them, the 2027 iX5 arrives exclusively as the 60 xDrive dual-motor variant, rated at 570 hp and 593 lb-ft, with a 144 kWh module-less battery. It replaces the bespoke iX as the electric entry in the X5 family line.

Audi took the more iterative route with the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron facelift. The 77 kWh pack now accepts 185 kW DC — a 10 kW bump that brings the 10–80% charge to 27 minutes. Inside, a redesigned dashboard carries an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch infotainment display, with an optional 12-inch passenger screen and a dual 15-watt wireless smartphone charger on a new bridge-type center console.

Why the volume matters for daily use

A 32-model year is not just a thicker catalog. It widens the realistic range of price points, body styles, and charging speeds that match a grocery run, a long commute, or a weekend tow. Faster DC peak rates and 800-volt systems — once reserved for six-figure flagships — are migrating into $60K SUVs. NACS adoption across the premium brands also lowers the planning tax on Supercharger-dependent routes, which matters for households without a home charger.

What to track before you sign

Three signals to watch as these names move toward showrooms: confirmed EPA range figures — manufacturer estimates have shifted before — out-the-door pricing once destination and any market-adjustment addenda land, and real-world DC charge curves at the low end of the battery, where the 10–80% headline often looks better than the slowest 20%. For shoppers cross-shopping the iX3 against the facelifted Q4 e-tron, the spread is roughly $10K before options — a gap that narrows once a tax credit applies and widens once it does not. Hold off on a deposit until those three numbers are pinned down per trim.
