Upcoming Electric Vehicles: A Look at the Next Wave of EV Releases
If you've been hovering over the "buy now" button on a new EV, Car and Driver's latest rundown of every electric vehicle still in the pipeline makes one thing painfully clear: the showroom is about to get crowded.

From Alfa Romeo's 1000-horsepower electric Giulia to BMW's Neue Klasse i3, the next two model years promise more variety, more range, and more price points than the U.S. market has ever seen. For a buyer weighing timing, that translates into the same trade-off we run into every model cycle — absorb today's depreciation, or wait for tomorrow's tech.
The pipeline at a glance
According to the Car and Driver compilation, several long-awaited nameplates are moving from concept toward production. Alfa Romeo confirmed the next Giulia will ride on Stellantis' STLA Large platform with 800-volt charging and a target range of up to 500 miles; the lineup reportedly spans from a roughly 350-horsepower base model up to a Quadrifoglio variant producing more than 1000 horsepower. Before that sedan arrives, Alfa will launch a redesigned Stelvio, though the electric version has slipped and isn't expected in the United States until 2028.
Tariffs, slippage, and what to track
The same compilation flags the geopolitical friction now reshaping launch calendars. Alpine has pushed its U.S. entry back from 2027 as import tariffs compress the business case; the brand now points to the upcoming A110 electric sports car and a larger SUV as its eventual American offerings. Bentley will reveal its first EV — the Torcal — in 2026 and begin sales in early 2027, with further Bentley EVs postponed until at least 2030. Audi's new electric sports car, previewed by the Concept C, is slated for 2027 and shares development with the upcoming Porsche 718 EV; the rear-drive concept is listed at roughly 3,726 pounds.
The buyer's math right now
For shoppers who need a car this quarter rather than in two years, the practical takeaway is narrow: most of the models in the Car and Driver catalog are aimed at specific niches — the 1000-hp Quadrifoglio customer, the Bentley luxury buyer, the Audi sports-car enthusiast. The BMW i3, riding on the Neue Klasse platform shared with the iX3 SUV, sits closer to the volume segment, but the materials available don't pin down a U.S. on-sale window. Until pricing and delivery dates firm up, the move that pays off in any market is the same one: lock in the out-the-door math on what's actually deliverable today, and use every announced future model as leverage at the dealership, not a reason to wait.
